XC Recap 10/19 - 10/26

At the District 10 Championships in Titusville on Saturday, the Mercer Varsity Girls team made school history by winning their first ever D10 title! The team was lead by senior and Gold Medalist Maggie Jewell, who broke her own school record by running an 18:15. Behind Maggie was Freshman Addie Mausser in 3rd, Junior Emily Blough in 11th, Senior Lucy Wallace in 17th, Sophomore Bella Beers in 18th, Freshman Megan Neugebauer in 42nd, and Senior Natalie Davis in 46th. The Jr High girls team finished off their season in Union City at Districts, where they placed 3rd. Medalists included Lily Mausser in 10th, Emily Winger in 20th, Hailey Hallberg in 24th, and Joselyn Sullivan in 28th.
the Varsity Boys team finished off their season at the D10 Championships in Titusville as well on Saturday. They were led by Senior Tate Papay, who finished 53rd with a time of 18:20. Freshman RJ Washil placed 67th with a time of 19:26. The Jr High boys team finished their season at Districts in Union City. They were led by Micah Rice, who placed 21st, Garrett Nugent, who placed 79th, and Bentley Smith, who placed 119th, all of which were out of 215 participants.
10/12 - 10/18 XC Recap

On 10/14, the XC girls team travelled to Lakeview, where they claimed another win with a score of 24-31, clinching their first region title since 2005, as well as the 3rd region title in school history! The Mustangs were led by senior Maggie Jewell, who set the course record with a time of 19:36. She finished with an undefeated dual meet season. The Jr High Girls team won by a forfeit, recording them with an undefeated 6-0 season. They were led by Lily Mausser, who when undefeated in dual meets this season as well.
The boys Varsity team lost by forfeit at Lakeview, wrapping up their dual meet season. Freshman RJ Washil was Mercer's top finisher, with a time of 20:12. The Jr High boys ran a no contest, due to neither team fielding a full squad. They were led by Micah Rice, who finished 2nd with a time of 12:52 on a 1.8 mile course.
Reynolds Dual Meet Results

On September 30th, The Mercer varsity girls team defeated Reynolds 20-37, moving them to 5-0 on the season! Maggie Jewell, who won individual as a runner, also moved to 5-0.
The Jr High girls team won 15-41, moving to 5-0 as well. Lily Mausser finished 1st individually, moving her to 5-0.
Unfortunately, the Varsity and Jr High boys lost by a forfeit 15-50.
XC Results 9/24

For the XC team's senior night, they defeated Commodore Perry 15-44, moving them to a 4-0 record. Senior Maggie Jewell won, which improved her individual record to 4-0 as well.
The Jr High girls XC team won as well 15-50, advancing them to a 4-0 record. 7th Grader Lily Mausser won, bumping her to an individual record of 4-0 as well.
The Varsity boys team lost a 15-50 forfeit
Unfortunately, the Jr High boys team was a no contest due to either school being able to field a full team
9/15 - 9/21 XC Recap

Both Mercer Jr High and Varsity XC teams won in their dual meet vs West Middlesex, bumping them to a 3-0 record. Senior Maggie Jewell took 1st place for Varsity, while 7th grader Lily Mausser took 1st place for Jr High. At the Foundation Invitational in Hershey, PA, the Varsity girls team placed 4th of 23 teams. Medalist from this meet include senior Maggie Jewell, who placed 3rd, and freshman Addie Mausser, who placed 19th.
Freshman RJ Washil acquired his 2nd dual meet win over West Middlesex this past week. Senior Tate Papay took 2nd in the same meet. At the Foundation Invitational in Hershey, PA, Tate placed 121st and RJ placed 129th, both out of 226 runners.
XC Recap 9/8-9/14

On Saturday, the Varsity Girls XC team took home 2nd place out of 15 teams at the Commodore Perry Invitational. Medalists from the meet included Senior Maggie Jewell in 2nd, Freshman Addie Mausser in 6th, Junior Emily Blough in 10th, and Sophomore Bella Beers in 35th.
The Jr High girls team took 1st of 12 teams at the CP invitational. Medalists included Lily Mausser, who was runner up, Joselyn Sullivan, in 15th, Emily Winger in 16th, and Hailey Hallberg in 23rd.
RJ Washil was the only Mercer boy to compete in the Commodore Perry Invitational. He finished 85th out of 152 runners. Out of the Jr High boys, Garrett Nugent finished 91st and Bentley Smith finished 122nd, both out of 150 runners.
Cross Country Dual Meet Summary 9/9/2025

On September 9th, the Mercer Varsity Girls XC team took the win over Kennedy. Senior Maggie Jewell got a win individually, improving her and the entire girls team to a 2-0 record. Ter Jr High girls team also took home a win with Lily Mausser getting an individual win, improving her and the Jr high girls team to 2-0 as well.
With the boys team, RJ Washil got his first career Varsity dual meet win! Neither Mercer or Kennedy had a complete boys team, so the race was a no contest.
The Mercer XC team will return this Saturday, September 13, to compete at the Commodore Perry Invitational. Good Luck Mustangs!
Cross Country Recap 9/1 -9/7

On Tuesday, the Mustangs competed in a home meet against Jamestown. Both the Varsity and Jr High girls team took home the win! Maggie Jewell led the Varsity team with her 1st place finish. Lily Mausser led the Jr High team with a 1st place finish as well. On Saturday, September 6th, the Varsity Girls team took home a 2nd place finish out of 16 teams at the Big Red Invitational at West Middlesex! Medalist from the included senior Maggie Jewell, who finished 2nd with a time of 19:12, freshman Addie Mausser, who finished 9th with a time of 20:34, junior Emily Blough, who finished 11th with a time of 20:39, sophomore Bella Beers, who finished 41st with a time of 22:34, and senior Lucy Wallace, who finished 47th with a time of 23:07. The Jr High Girls team also finished 2nd out of 13 teams. Medalists from the Jr High team include 7th graders Lily Mausser in 4th place, Joselyn Sullivan in 12th, Emily Winger in 18th, Hailey Hallberg in 23rd, and 8th grader Madelyn Blough in 31st.
Although the boys teams could not compete and had to forfeit, two boys still ran! These runners include, from the Varsity team, RJ Washil, who finished 74th out of 151 runners with a time of 19:40, and, from the Jr High team, Garrett Nugent, who finished 70th out of 147 runners.
Congrats to all Mercer runners. Be sure to catch the Cross Country team's next meet on Tuesday, September 9th. The Cross Country teams will be competing against Kennedy Catholic at Home. Good Luck Mustangs!
Cross Country Recap 8/25 - 8/31

The Mustangs competed at the Titusville Rocket invitational on August 30th. At this meet, the varsity girls achieved first place by 2 points. The Mustangs were lead by Senior Maggie Jewell, who finished as the runner up with a time of 18:41. This time is a new personal best for Maggie, whose previous PR was 20:25. Congratulations Maggie! Behind Maggie was Junior Emily Blough, who finished 10th, and Freshman Addie Mausser, who finished 11th. Emily finished with a time of 20:10 and Addie finished with a time of 20:16, both of which were the girls personal bests. To finish off the top 5 for the Mustangs were sophmore Bella Beers, who finished 37th, and Senior Lucy Wallace, who finished 38th. Bella finished with a time of 21:51 and Lucy finished with a time of 21:54. Junior Ryleigh White was the 6th and final Mustang. Ryleigh placed 91st out of 148 girls with a time of 24:35. According to Coach Justin Reno, all of the girl's times at this meet significantly improved since last season.
There was only 1 varsity boy who competed at the Rocket invitational. This boy was freshman RJ Washil. RJ finished 103rd out of 213 with a time of 19:25, a new PR for RJ! Only 2 JR High boys competed in this meet, 7th Grader Garrett Nugent and 8th Grader Bentley Smith. Garrett finished 69th with a time of 11:12, and Bentley finished 120th with a time of 13:01. The JR race consisted of 137 total runners, who ran a distance of 1.55 miles!
The JR High Girls followed after their varsity counterparts and also took 1st place overall! 7th grader Lily Mausser led the JR High Mustangs with a time of 9:56! Behind her was 7th graders Joselyn Sullivan, who finished 8th, and Emily Winger, who finished 13th. Joselyn finished with a time of 10:31 and Emily finsihed with a time of 10:36. To finish out the JR High top 5 is 7th grader Hailey Hallberg, who finished 24th, and 8th grader Madelyn Blough, who finished 27th. Hailey finished with a time of 10:58 and Madelyn finished with a time of 11:09. The JR High Mustangs 6th girl was 8th grader Kennedy Hackett. Kennedy, running her first ever JR High race, finished 94th out of 105 girls with a time of 15:02.
The Mustangs Cross-Country team will compete next Tuesday, September 2nd, at Home vs Jamestown! Following that meet, the Mustangs will travel to West Middlesex on Saturday, September 26th, to compete in the Big Red Invitational.
